Chateau Fontanche is in the village of Quarante, a small French village in the south of France, St. Chinian appellation.  The vines of Château Fontanche are located on the limestone plateau overlooking the village of Quarante at an altitude of 656.2 ft.  The 30 acres of vines extend on very high-quality terroir through woods and valleys, offering a magnificent view of the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea.

For the estate, these are old vines with an average of 60-year growth.  The wines of the property are exported all over the world while preserving traditional and family values: it is not uncommon to come across 3 generations working side by side in the vineyards.

The name LES UYERES comes from the name of a 12th century castle which is located close to the Chateau Fontanche.

Wine Maker: Gilles Cantons

Coming from a family of winegrowers, Gilles Cantons was born in the little town of Capestang located 8km from the estate.  Initially, Gilles Cantons was focused on the winetrade, while mulling the idea of one day being able to produce his own wine. The story begins in 2014, when at the age of 50 he falls under the spell of Château Fontanche, a property not far from the family village and located in the heart of a protected natural site.
