Domaine Armand David

Domaine Armand David is a fourth-generation family estate in Saumur, in the Loire Valley. The same family has worked these vineyards for decades, with each generation directly involved in the daily life of the domaine.

François and Sébastien David grew up on the property. From childhood, they spent time in the vineyards and cellars, accompanied their father to tastings, and took part in harvest alongside parents and grandparents. Wine shaped daily family life and work at the estate from their earliest years. For many years, four generations worked together at the domaine, a reality so rare that visitors regularly remarked on it!

Sébastien joined the domaine full time in 2012 and assumed a central role in its development. The family expanded the estate to nearly 50 hectares across Saumur and continued to focus on Chenin Blanc alongside Cabernet Franc and other Loire varieties. The vineyards extend across parcels with limestone and tuffeau soils, where the family has developed long familiarity through sustained vineyard work.

The estate farms sustainably and holds HVE certification. The David family approaches vineyard work through knowledge accumulated on site and reinforced through daily practice. Each generation learns the work early through shared responsibility and hands-on involvement. That experience passes directly from one generation to the next and continues to shape how the domaine operates today.

Wines from Domaine Armand David

Siébrit, AOP Saumur Rouge

100% Cabernet Franc

Siébrit is a classic Saumur Cabernet Franc named after an early family cuvée, reflecting decades of accumulated experience with the variety. The vines grow primarily on clay-limestone soils and average 40 to 50 years in age, contributing depth and balance. The 2023 vintage required careful attention in the vineyard, with hand-sorting playing a key role in maintaining fruit quality. Fermentation takes place in wood, followed by aging in French oak, which supports structure while preserving freshness. Siébrit offers a clear expression of Cabernet Franc as it is grown and understood by the David family, shaped by site knowledge and hands-on work in both vineyard and cellar.

L’Enchanteur, AOP Saumur Blanc

100% Chenin Blanc

L’Enchanteur is one of the oldest cuvées at Domaine Armand David, first created nearly a century ago by Armand David himself. Today, François and Sébastien continue that lineage with a Chenin Blanc that reflects both family history and Saumur’s geological complexity. The fruit comes from vineyards planted across clay-limestone and tuffeau soils, bringing natural tension and lift to the wine. Fermentation takes place in wood, followed by extended aging in French oak, allowing texture and aromatics to develop without overpowering the wine’s freshness. The result is a supple, expressive Chenin Blanc shaped by site, patience, and long familiarity with the vineyard.
