Château Roc Meynard

Château Roc Meynard is a historic family estate located in Fronsac on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, with vineyards cultivated on the Meynard hillside since the 18th century. The estate appears on maps as early as 1785 and has remained family-owned for five generations. Today, Roc Meynard spans approximately 50 hectares across the Bordeaux and Fronsac appellations, with clay-limestone soils and hillside plateaus that allow for close, plot-by-plot vineyard management.

The modern shape of the estate was defined under Philippe Hermouet, who rebuilt and expanded Roc Meynard beginning in the late 1980s, investing in vineyards, cellar infrastructure, and a style focused on freshness, precision, and longevity. That foundation supports an approach to winemaking based on observation, tasting, and long-term balance rather than fixed formulas. The estate is managed as a working farm, with vineyards integrated into a broader ecosystem that prioritizes biodiversity and soil health.

Today, Roc Meynard is led by Philippe Hermouet’s daughter, Esther Hermouet. After building a career in international wine and spirits marketing, Esther returned to the estate to take on both leadership and winemaking responsibilities. Her work balances continuity with evolution, combining technical training, hands-on experience in the vineyard and cellar, and a clear vision for wines that are expressive, fresh, and lively.
